Shri Ajit Anantrao Pawar
Shri Ajit Anantrao Pawar, affectionately known as “Dada”, is a leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). With close to three decades of experience in the political arena, Shri Ajit Pawar has served as Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Minister of State (MS) for several key portfolios including; Water Resources, Rural Soil Conservation Development, Power and Planning, as well as Guardian Minister for Pune District. His vision, to build an inclusive society, is based on the ideals of social and economic freedom, equality, diversity and justice. He has pledged to make Maharashtra a State where equal opportunity is accessible to all and has made great strides towards achieving this objective over the course of his career.
He stepped down from the post of deputy chief minister of Maharashtra after the big political drama. Immediately after him, Devendra Fadnavis also resigned from the post of CM.
Ajit Pawar took oath as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra on November 23, 2019.
Ajit Pawar was again elected to the state assembly.
This was his fourth consecutive term as an MLA from Baramati.
Ajit Pawar was again elected as the member of Maharashtra Assembly from Baramati. He became the Minister of Water Resources. He was the Guardian minister for Pune district.
He was re-elected to the Maharashtra Assembly from the same constituency. He was inducted in the Cabinet for the first time. He served as Minister of Irrigation from October 1999 to December 2003, during the tenure of Vilasrao Deshmukh. Also, served as Rural Development Minister from December 2003 - October 2004.
Ajit Pawar was elected for the first time an MLA from Baramati constituency.
He was elected as the chairman of the Pune District Co-operative Bank (PDC). Later he served in as the Director of Chatrapati Sugar Factory. Then he became Chairman of Chatrapati Bazar. He also served as the Trustee of Vidya Pratishthan and Pune Zilla Vikas Pratishthan.
He was elected the Member of Parliament in 10th Loksabha. In just four months he resigned from this post. Later in June 1991, he became the minister of state for Agriculture and Power. He served this post till November 1992. From November 1992 - February 1993, he was the Minister of state for Soil Conservation, Power and Planning during the tenure of Sharad Pawar as the CM.
Ajit Pawar entered in politics as a member of the Board of a cooperative sugar factory.
